REACTION - IPSWICH 50 TIGERS 40

Tuesday June 11, 2024
SHEFFIELD boss Simon Stead has called for more consistency from his team following their 50-40 defeat at league leaders Ipswich on Monday.

It was the second meeting on the trot they have lost by ten points, having also being beaten by that same scoreline in their Knockout Cup Semi-Final first leg at King’s Lynn last Thursday.

Stead feels the two performances were pretty similar but wanted to focus on some of the plus points from their league loss at Foxhall to build on in their next fixture.

“It was another disappointing result really,” Stead said.

“We’ve got to get more from elsewhere apart from Jack (Holder) and Woffy (Tai Woffinden) and we need some more consistency, we need to fill the gaps.

“Ipswich deserved their win, we’re back to licking our wounds a little bit and hopefully we can get a response in our next meeting which is an important one against Belle Vue a week on Thursday (June 20).

“There were some positives though; I feel Jack and Woffy’s form here in particular bears well for later in the season.

“And another thing I think is worth mentioning is that stunning ride from Dan Gilkes over Emil in Heat Four, that was superb.”

There is action at Owlerton on Wednesday night (June 12, 7.30pm) with club captain’s Kyle Howarth’s Testimonial event which sees a Sheffield side take on a Rest of the World Select.
