FAST FREDDIE FLIES IN

Wednesday March 13, 2024
WORLD No.2 Freddie Lindgren is looking forward to making a rare appearance at Sheffield’s ‘exciting’ racetrack on Thursday (March 14, 7.30).

The Swedish Grand Prix star is flying in for Kyle Howarth’s Testimonial as the new speedway season gets underway at Owlerton Stadium.

Lindgren last raced in South Yorkshire nine years ago when he finished on the rostrum at Ricky Ashworth’s benefit meeting.

And he’s been recalling his memories of the Steel City circuit as he prepares to lead the Rest of the World opposition.

“I remember it being quite an intimidating track,” he said.

“It can be one of those challenging tracks because it rides so fast.

“It’s quite a unique shape and it means you really have to do everything you can to carry the momentum and speed on the straights and you can get very close to the fence at times.

“I would also say it is an exciting track though and I’m actually looking forward to racing there again after quite a few years now, especially for Kyle’s testimonial meeting.”

Admission is £23 adults, £21 concessions (over 65s and students, both requiring ID evidence to be shown) with kids up to and including the age of 17 just £1 while all under-5s are admitted free. A reminder that season tickets are NOT valid for this fixture.

A special souvenir raceday programme has been published for the event reflecting on Howarth’s career and will be available for £5 trackside.
