STEAD FOCUSED ON RETAINING TITLE

Sunday November 26, 2023
SHEFFIELD team manager Simon Stead says the club’s focus is already firmly on successfully retaining their Premiership crown.

The Tru Plant Tigers pulled off a history making comeback against Ipswich in October as they won the top flight league title for the first time ever.

And club bosses have wasted little time in assembling their septet for next term with Jack Holder, Tai Woffinden, Chris Holder, Josh Pickering, Kyle Howarth, Jason Edwards and Dan Gilkes all back at Owlerton.

Said Stead: “This year was one everyone at Sheffield will never forget but now we have to start thinking about doing it all again in 2024.

“Once you’ve won the league, the real challenge is trying to retain it.

“No matter what your team, you’re there to be shot at and you’re the one team the rest of the league wants to beat.

“But we’ve put together something really, really special and you can see it’s another team built with real ambition and intent.

“It’s got a great balance about it, it’s full of extremely talented speedway riders who all genuinely want to race for Sheffield and it’s a team full of great characters as well which can never be underestimated.”
