TIGERS THROUGH TO SEMI-FINALS

Thursday May 01, 2008
SHEFFIELD safely booked their place in the Premier Trophy semi-finals with a thumping 59-33 win over Newcastle at Owlerton on Thursday.

Skipper Andre Compton was in spectacular form with a full 15-point maximum but it was all about a solid team performance from Eric Boocock's men.

And it was sweet revenge for the hammering they took at the hands of the Diamonds in the North East in March.

Said Boocock: "It was a comprehensive performance which has to bode well for the rest of the season.

"If we can continue that form then there's no reason why we can't get through the semi finals and go on to win the Trophy. We have to be confident."

SHEFFIELD: Andre Compton 15, Ricky Ashworth 11+2, Ben Wilson 10, Paul Cooper 9+1, Joel Parsons 7+3, Lee Smethills 4, Sam Martin 3.
NEWCASTLE: Josef Franc 13, Jason King 8+1, Jamie Robertson 6+1, Christian Henry 5, Ben Powell 1+1, Sean Stoddart 0.
