TIGERS 37 PETERBOROUGH 23

Monday July 03, 2023
SHEFFIELD saw their clash at Owlerton with Peterborough abandoned after ten races - with the result standing in a 37-23 victory for the home side.

The early set of proceedings had displayed some competitive action - but a couple of sharp, sudden heavy showers during the course of Heats Eight to Ten led to the majority of riders voting in favour of calling the fixture to a halt.

The Tru Plant Tigers won the first seven races with six heat advantages seeing them open up a 28-14 lead.

A selection of races in that period saw recent recruit Josh Pickering round Richie Worrall on bends three and four to join Adam Ellis out front for the only maximum of the night in Heat Five before Tobiasz Musielak gradually reeled in Benjamin Basso bit-by-bit to grab a stunning, hard fought victory on the run to the line in Heat Seven.

A heavy downpour then came as the two minute time allowance came on for Heat Eight in a race which saw the visitors pick up their first win of the night through Worrall.

The Panthers then registered their only heat advantage in the ninth and even though Tigers No.1 Jack Holder passed Ben Cook to seal a third straight win in Heat Ten, track conditions led to team meetings being called with a higher percentage of riders deciding to go no further with the action.

The Tru Plant Tigers added two league points to their tally and now turn their attentions to a trip to King’s Lynn in the Sports Insure Premiership this Thursday (July 6, 7.30).

SHEFFIELD 37: Jack Holder 9, Josh Pickering 7+1, Tobiasz Musielak 6, Kyle Howarth 5, Adam Ellis 4, Dan Gilkes 4, Lewis Kerr 2+1.
PETERBOROUGH 23: Richie Worrall 6, Vadim Tarasenko 5, Hans Andersen 5, Benjamin Basso 4, Ben Cook 2, Niels-Kristian Iversen 1+1, Jordan Jenkins 0.
