TIGERS UP FOR THE CUP

Wednesday April 23, 2008
SHEFFIELD Tigers go looking for a big win in the home leg of their Knockout Cup clash with the Isle of Wight on Thursday (7.45pm).

The Owlerton side head to the island for the second leg next Tuesday and must take a healthy advantage.

Both sides often serve up some spectacular action when they meet and a tight aggregate situation is expected.

Sheffield Window Centre Tigers owner Neil Machin said: "For some reason we always seem to draw the Isle of Wight in the Knockout Cup, I don't know why it is!

"They're a hard team to beat and there is no doubt we will need a lead of some kind from the home leg to take down there on Tuesday.

"We need every member of our team to be on form and we cannot afford any stupid mistakes like engine failures. We need to make every point count."

The Islanders lost Chris Holder during the winter as the Australian finally took the plunge in the Elite League with Poole - and his younger brother James has joined the club for his debut British season.

Like Sheffield, they have been able to keep the bulk of their squad from last season and they have made a solid start to the season.

SHEFFIELD: Ricky Ashworth, Joel Parsons, Andre Compton, Paul Cooper, Ben Wilson, Sam Martin, Lee Smethills.

ISLE OF WIGHT: Krzysztof Stojanowski, Cory Gathercole, Glen Phillips, Paul Fry, Jason Bunyan, Andrew Bargh, James Holder.
