PREVIEW: WOLVERHAMPTON v TIGERS

Sunday September 25, 2022
SHEFFIELD launch their play-off bid on Monday (September 26, 7.30) as they head to Wolverhampton for the first leg of their Semi-Final clash.

The Tru Plant Tigers head into the fixture full of confidence after bagging their biggest win (57-33) of the season at home to Belle Vue on Thursday - a victory that sent them to the top of the Premiership to set up two legs against Wolves.

Sheffield certainly know how to keep it close in the Black Country with two last heat deciders from their three trips so far this season.

And even in their 54-36 defeat at the end of May, the scores were still tied at the half way stage.

Team boss Simon Stead has acknowledged the strength of their Semi-Final opponents, but believes he has seen something extra from his own side in their last couple of meetings.

“We’ve been talking about this lack of fixtures and no continuity but now we’ve had a bit of a run, we seem to have found our feet a little bit more,” Stead said.

“It all starts again in these play-offs though and while we can’t take anything for granted, if we keep riding how we have been of late then we’re going to be hard to beat.

“I think we’re in for a great couple of meetings with Wolverhampton.

“They’re a solid side, they ride their place really, really well but we’ve shown on numerous occasions that we can do the business there.

“We’ll go there and do our best and build up whatever we can to bring back to Sheffield for the second leg on October 6.”

A reminder that Sheffield have arranged the home leg of their Premiership League Cup Final for this coming Thursday (September 29, 7.30) against King’s Lynn and season tickets WILL be valid.

WOLVERHAMPTON: Sam Masters, Steve Worrall, Luke Becker, Ryan Douglas, Nick Morris, Drew Kemp, Leon Flint.

SHEFFIELD: Tobiasz Musielak, Lewis Kerr, Adam Ellis, Kyle Howarth, Jack Holder, Justin Sedgmen, Connor Mountain.
