PREVIEW: BELLE VUE v TIGERS

Sunday September 04, 2022
SHEFFIELD will complete their regular Premiership away fixtures this week with two crucial meetings.

The Tru Plant Tigers travel to King’s Lynn on Thursday (September 8, 7.30), but first up it’s a Monday (September 5, 7.30) trip to Manchester for the latest War of the Roses clash against Belle Vue.

The Owlerton outfit need just two points to mathematically book their place in this year’s Premiership play-offs and will be looking for a much improved performance to the one they managed last time they went to the National Speedway Stadium.

They were dominated 58-32 on that occasion two months ago on a night to forget for the South Yorkshire side.

However, recent form has been much more encouraging with the Tigers claiming ten league points from their last four fixtures.

And with Belle Vue the only other side apart from Sheffield maintaining a 100 per cent home league record, team boss Simon Stead is looking forward to seeing his side in action on Monday.

“I’ve been really pleased with the lads again in recent meetings and we’ve been on the sort of form you want to be in at this stage of the season,” he said.

“I’d love to see them produce another strong performance on Monday but we know Belle Vue is the one place this year where you have to go and really deliver your A game.

“I think the lads learnt a lot about a different type of set-up in the latter stages the last time we were there and it will be interesting to see how we go.

“It’s all about building as much momentum and belief as you can at this point now so we’ll go there and give it our best shot just like we always do and hopefully that will be enough to come away with something.”

Reigning British Champion Adam Ellis returns to the Sheffield side after spending three weeks on the sideline with a broken collarbone and shoulder injury.

However the Tru Plant Tigers will be without their No.1 Tobiasz Musielak on Monday due to his involvement in the Polish Final - King’s Lynn’s Nicolai Klindt, who guested for Sheffield last week and scored seven points from three rides at Peterborough, stands in.

BELLE VUE: Max Fricke, Tom Brennan, Matej Zagar, Charles Wright, Brady Kurtz, Jye Etheridge, Norick Blodorn.

SHEFFIELD: Nicolai Klindt, Lewis Kerr, Adam Ellis, Kyle Howarth, Jack Holder, Justin Sedgmen, Connor Mountain.

Meanwhile supporters are reminded about the club’s special ‘September Savings’ package which covers the upcoming three home meetings later this months.
