PREVIEW: TIGERS V WOLVERHAMPTON

Wednesday August 31, 2022
SHEFFIELD aim to take a huge step towards Premiership play-off qualification when they host Wolverhampton at Owlerton on Thursday (September 1, 7.30).

The Tru Plant Tigers need just five league points from their remaining six fixtures to mathematically guarantee their spot in the top four.

Whilst the South Yorkshire side have found their time on home shale limited up to now, Thursday’s contest will be the first of four meetings in front of their home supporters in September.

When they have been in action in S6 though, they’ve been unstoppable in the Premiership winning all six of their home league meetings to date.

Thursday night will see Tobiasz Musielak move into the No.1 racejacket for the Tru Plant Tigers for the very first time.

And team boss Simon Stead is looking forward to another competitive night of action with four of the five meetings between the two teams going down to last heat deciders in all competitions this term.

“I think it should be a really good fixture for the supporters,” he said.

“We face a Wolverhampton side boosted by a solid couple of performances against Belle Vue at the start of this week.

“We've already seen at Sheffield this year how good Wolves are as visitors, they've got a lot of riders who like our place individually and they usually ride well as a team at Owlerton too.

“It feels like an absolute age since we rode at home as a team last and that doesn't make our task any easier - but be assured that the boys will battle right until the end and we want to keep our home results going.”

There will be extra racing for supporters to enjoy also as the Sheffield STAARS Cubs taking on the Parrys International Wolf Cubs in the Premiership Junior League.
