STEAD – NO COMPLACENCY

Friday September 24, 2021
SHEFFIELD boss Simon Stead is warning his riders against complacency ahead of their Premiership clash with King’s Lynn on Sunday (5pm).

The meeting sees them complete their regular league fixtures ahead of the play-offs where they face Belle Vue in the first leg at home next Thursday.

King’s Lynn have had a tough season and were well beaten at Peterborough on Thursday but Stead wants to see the right attitude from his team.

Stead said: “We can’t take anything for granted, and regardless of where King’s Lynn have finished in the league they have got riders in their team who ride Sheffield very well.

“If we go into the meeting thinking the job is already done, then we could be upset, and that would halt the momentum that we managed to gain on Monday.”

It’s the first time Sunday racing has been staged at Owlerton since 2019 and club bosses are hoping to see younger fans with families enjoying the racing.

Skipper Kyle Howarth misses the meeting as he is racing in the Championship for Leicester, with that league having priority on Sundays.

Tigers will operate rider replacement, with James Wright again standing in for the injured Stefan Nielsen at reserve.

SHEFFIELD: Jack Holder, Kyle Howarth R/R, Josh Pickering, Troy Batchelor, Adam Ellis, Danyon Hume, James Wright.

KING’S LYNN: Richard Lawson R/R, Ben Barker, Erik Riss, Lewis Kerr, Thomas Jorgensen, Connor Mountain, Kasper Andersen.
