TIGERS NAME HOLDER

Monday February 08, 2021
SHEFFIELD have retained Aussie ace Jack Holder for the new season.

Holder was one of the high profile signings for their promotion to the Premiership before last season was cancelled.

Now Tigers have confirmed Holder, a wildcard in the Torun Grand Prix weekend last October, will keep his place in the side to form a promising spearhead with new signing Troy Batchelor.

Boss Simon Stead said: “I am on record many times saying how much I have been looking forward to working with Jack and I’m delighted we can accommodate him this season.

“He’s a class act and has a bright future ahead of him. He’s a Grand Prix rider of the future and the team building is going very nicely so far.

“To have three riders of the calibre of Jack, Troy Batchelor and Kyle Howarth confirmed to date is very satisfying.

“Obviously there were concerns he would be unavailable because of the restrictions in Poland on how many other leagues you can race in but he’s committed to Sheffield and I’m delighted.”

Stead, who recently became a proud Dad, is excited for the new season.

“I’ve consistently said we need to keep the feel good factor of last season going which hasn’t been easy with everything that has been going on in the world,” he said. “To lose an entire season is unbelievable but we have to get over it and look forward to what should be a good season.

“It will have been a long time since our last meeting when we open up against Belle Vue on May 6, but I’m sure it will be worth it.

“That’s a great way for the season to start. I’m pleased to see things starting to get brighter and look forward to seeing the lads back out on track.”
