SHEFFIELD’S rivalry with Belle Vue will be renewed on opening night at Owlerton.

The world famous Aces from Manchester will head across to South Yorkshire on Thursday May 6 with Premiership points on the line.

And the Tru Plant Tigers are on the road the following Monday for their first away trip when they go to Wolverhampton.

Eurosport will also launch their coverage in May with 18 broadcasts planned across the season. The TV dates will be announced closer to the start.

Clubs are currently in the process of piecing together their team plans with young British riders ready to get their chance under a new grading scheme for rising stars.

It can also be confirmed that the prestigious British Final will take place at Belle Vue on Monday August 16.

Sheffield co-owner Damien Bates said: “What a start! Belle Vue at home! It’s so exciting and we can hardly wait.

“The clubs have been in regular dialogue to reach this stage where we can now unveil our fixture list.

“I agree with our manager Simon Stead when he said we need to keep the excitement factor going and we won’t allow it to drop in the build-up to the new season.”

British Speedway Promoters Ltd Board member Chris Louis is excited by the plans.

He said: “When you see a fixture list then it starts to become real. We are delighted to be working closely with Eurosport at the start of an exciting new era for the sport in this country.

“The reaction to the rising star scheme has been extremely positive and the way the Premiership is shaping up it promises to be extremely competitive.”
