LAWSON GUNNING FOR GLORY

TIGERS signing Richard Lawson is determined to make up for past disappointment in Saturday’s British Final.

Cumbrian racer Lawson is the club’s sole representative with Kyle Howarth still recovering from shoulder surgery.

And as the event is at his former home track Ipswich he believes he has a chance of winning the title.

“I’ve been disappointed with my result in some finals for sure,” he said.

“I think I could have done better and that’s what’s disappointed me. I know I can do well and I feel confident about Saturday for sure.

“As it’s at Ipswich I know I can go well around there and feel confident I can get through to the final when anything can happen.

“I had a good season at Ipswich last year and it’s a good track for me to ride so I’m really looking forward to it.

“I know the field is tough with the likes of Jason Crump, Chris Harris and Danny King in there but I know I can beat anyone on my day.”

Lawson was at Leicester on Sunday to blow away the cobwebs and get some important laps in as preparation for the big night.

“It was important for me to do that because I hadn’t been on the bike for a while so I was pleased to be able to go there,” he said.

“Hopefully I can score well and it would be a special moment if I could lift the national championship, particularly in such a strange year.”
