NICKI STILL KEEN ON TIGERS

Thursday July 30, 2020
SHEFFIELD co-owner Damien Bates has confirmed Speedway legend Nicki Pedersen remains keen to race for the club.

Tru Plant Tigers bosses stunned supporters when they announced the capture of the triple World Champion following their elevation to the Premiership.

The arrival of Pedersen, who was live on stage at Owlerton Stadium in front of a sell-out crowd in January, along with fellow newcomer Jack Holder were key contributors to the revived buzz surrounding the sport in the steel city.

However, the plug was pulled on professional league racing for the remainder of the year last week leaving supporters wondering whether their dreams would be dashed.

But Bates has told how early conversations have taken place – and he doesn’t envisage too many team changes at Owlerton in 2021.

“We’ll be forced into at least one team change - and more will come out about that and why when the time is right,” Bates said.

“Simon (Stead – team manager) has been speaking to the riders and they all seem pretty positive.

“The one thing I would like to do is get the heat-leaders back in particular as soon as possible really.

“Both Nicki and Jack have indicated to us early that they want to be back and that’s obviously a massive boost for us.”
