SHEFFIELD rock band 'Shrine of the Monkey' are to appear live at Owlerton Stadium, home of the city's Premier League Speedway team, this Thursday - and admission is free!

The band members are all keen followers of the sport and will top the bill at Sheffield's pre-season press and practice.

The event starts at 3pm with photos and track practice for the team and the band will be on stage from 9pm.

It's their second appearance at Owlerton after their popular performance last August when they helped raise funds for paralysed speedway star Garry Stead.

Drummer Kevin Lee said: “Sheffield Speedway has provided years of family entertainment, this is a great opportunity for the band to put something back in, our new album comes out in April and the Speedway have agreed to use some of the tracks as theme music."
