SIMON Stead made it three wins out of three as Great Britain boss with a second successive victory over Australia in Perth on Saturday.

Skipper Tai Woffinden was again the star of the show roaring to another maximum - this time reeling off five straight wins to lead Great Britain to back-to-back victories at Pinjar Park.

Stead said: “All the lads deserve great credit for what they have achieved here, they have done everything right and I’m proud of them.

“It’s been a brilliant experience for them and credit the Australian boys too, good for them to race against riders who are based in Europe.

“We must say thanks to everyone who has made this happen, people have invested in this project and I see it as a big step forward for the GB Speedway team.

“I’d love to see this made into an annual event, it would be great to do it again next year and it’s given everyone a taste of competitive action ahead of the new season now.”

The opening heat of the night saw Woffinden team up with Drew Kemp to get the visitors off to the perfect start - hitting the pairings third maximum over the two meetings.

Back-to-back shared heats followed with Jack Smith picking up his first points of the weekend with victory in Heat 3.

Peterborough legend Jason Crump made it two wins out of two in another shared heat with his British counterpart Woffinden winning the following heat to remain unbeaten.

Woffinden then won the battle of the unbeaten duo in Heat 8 with Kemp getting the better of Kale Ballantyne to restore their four-point lead at the halfway stage.

Jack Smith’s upturn in form continued as he partnered Belle Vue star Dan Bewley to extend GB’s lead to ten points with just three heats remaining.

Another two maximums for Stead’s side in the remaining three heats sealed victory in style as Woffinden and Bewley held off Crump and Cameron Heeps for a fourth maximum of the night.
