IT'S THE TRU PLANT TIGERS

Thursday November 21, 2019
SHEFFIELD have new main team sponsors following their promotion to the Premiership.

Tru Plant, based in Suffolk, offer one of the widest ranges of plant hire and equipment available nationwide.

The team will now be known as the Sheffield Tru Plant Tigers for the new era of racing at Owerton.

It’s another good news story for the club following Tuesday’s announcement of the signing of three-time World Champion Nicki Pedersen.

Tru Plant chief Guy Nicholls said: “We are delighted to be associated with such an exciting time for Sheffield – and I’m looking forward to making my first ever visit there!

“Back in the day I used to enjoy watching Doug Wyer and Reg Wilson come to Ipswich, my local track. Sheffield have always been a top division club in my eyes and I’m sure they can make a success of the move.

“I think the signing of Nicki is an inspired move, he’s some character, and it’s not only good for Sheffield but good for British Speedway.”

Sheffield co-promoter Damien Bates said: “This is yet more positive news to come out of the club and we cannot thank Guy enough. We look forward to extending a warm welcome to him and his guests here at Owlerton.

“At the same time we would also like to offer our sincere thanks and appreciation to Ian Hunter and his team at Sheffield Window Centre for their loyal support down the years.

“Ian will always be welcome and we hope there is still a way to keep the brand involved with the club as we enter an exciting new era.

“He has been more than a sponsor, he is a friend of the club and without his help over the last six years the club wouldn’t be in such a good position to the point of where we are now moving up.

“We would also like to thank our friend Andy Raine at Watling JCB for introducing us to Guy.”
