TIGERS v BIRMINGHAM - PREVIEW

Saturday May 04, 2019
SHEFFIELD stage their first home league fixture of the season against Championship newcomers Birmingham at Owlerton on Sunday (5pm).

Tigers are aiming to get back to winning ways following a run of four defeats in all competitions.
And while Sunday’s opponents from the West Midlands have got off to a difficult start themselves, Sheffield Window Centre Tigers’ heat-leader Ty Proctor says the hosts shouldn’t underestimate the Brummies.
“At the end of the day there are no easy meeting at this level,” Proctor said.
“Birmingham have got some decent riders and ones who can go well at Sheffield.
“So we’re going to need to be on our game and of course we want to get a win in our first league meeting at Sheffield this year.
“We know what we’re capable of as a team and hopefully everything will come together again on Sunday.”
American reserve Broc Nicol has been ruled out following medical advice to rest a knock he sustained at Leicester a fortnight ago. Danyon Hume, who won the National League with Birmingham in 2016, will stand in.
Birmingham include former Sheffield riders James Shanes and Paco Castagna, who is representing Italy in this year’s Speedway of Nations, and are led by Ulrich Ostergaard who won the Premier League Riders’ Championship at Owlerton in 2015.
With Sheffield Wednesday completing their Sky Bet Championship campaign at Hillsborough on Sunday, supporters should note the slightly later start time of 5pm with gates open from 3.30.
In a special offer agreed between the two clubs, 2019 Birmingham Speedway Season Ticket Holders will be admitted for just £10 upon production of their season ticket via Turnstile 5.
