ERIC Boocock is the new team manager of ambitious Premier League speedway club Sheffield Tigers.
The former England chief takes over from club legend Reg Wilson who has stood aside because of increasing business demands.
It means an emotional return for Boocock who held a similar position with the club 20-years ago.
He said: "Sheffield came forward with an offer to get more involved there and I'm pleased to be back there. I have many, many friends there and people are aware I've been in charge there before.
"I still have a passion for speedway and I respect Neil Machin, David Hoggart and, of course, Reg Wilson - we go back years.
"My involvement will allow Neil to focus more on the things he's good at - promoting and marketing the sport David and myself will get on with running the show, it's more of a back seat role for Neil because that's what he wants."
Sheffield co-promoter David Hoggart said: "Reg just wasn't able to do the job on a full-time basis and we believe Eric's appointment, which also takes in work on track preparation and some admin, will help take this club forward.
"He will work closely with the riders and help them progress. Reg will also be on hand at home meetings with the benefit of his experience."
