ALL WRIGHT ON THE NIGHT FOR TIGERS?

Friday July 20, 2018
SHEFFIELD racer Charles Wright returns to his former track Somerset tonight – hoping to help Tigers to glory on a national level.

Wright partners Kyle Howarth in the Championship Pairs at the Oaktree Arena with a bumper crowd expected as fans make their way to Cardiff for the British Grand Prix weekend.

And despite plenty of Championship experience down the years, Wright will be making his first appearance at the Oaktree in the showpiece event.

“In all of the times I have ridden for Somerset I never rode in the pairs so I am looking forward to it on a track I know very well,” said Wright.

“After being there for so many years I know off by heart the set up, what to use and which racing lines to take, where to go and where not to go. We can use that to our advantage on the day.

“After winning the league last year this could kick off something good, we want to get a trophy as early as possible.”

Howarth, meanwhile, won the event with Lasse Bjerre last season and will be asking Wright for advice.

He said: “Charles raced at Somerset for years and did very well. The track and set up has been a bit different this year down there but we will just have to take our time, prepare as well as we can on the day and go from there.

“Charles has moved on from there now but he will know about it as much as anyone can which is great because gaining points early on is crucial at an event like this.”

The Championship Pairs will be contested by two five-team groups with the top two qualifying for the semi-finals.

The destiny of the title is decided by the final alone rather than cumulative results.

Fans should note the action starts at 7pm.
