TIGERS boss Simon Stead believes their season “kicks on” from now after a massive win over Glasgow.

The home side ripped into their Scottish rivals from the off to win by a comfortable 56-34 at Owlerton.

Lasse Bjerre produced a very impressive paid 15-point maximum while debutant American Broc Nicol delivered a promising five points including a race win.

Stead admitted: “It couldn’t have gone much better. That’s a big win over a powerhouse Glasgow side and our season kicks on from here really.

“To see Broc come in and produce such a good display is very encouraging. We now look a solid side and we can now target defending the title with real confidence.

“There are tougher meetings to come and we need to pick up points away from home but this is a real boost. It’s a massive statement to the rest of the league.”

Charles Wright weighed in with seven points and admitted he was impressed with new American Nicol.

“It was a good night for us. Broc did an amazing job, I thought he might take time to settle but he looked really quick and on the pace.

“That will be a huge bonus for us if the new boys come in and do a solid job. For now I just want to concentrate on Sheffield and defending this league title.”

Tigers roared into a 12-point lead after six races. But then Glasgow produced a fightback of two 5-1s to narrow the gap to just four points after Heat 8.

However Tigers went up a gear again with four maximums in six races to kill off the clash in style.

GLASGOW 34: James Sarjeant 9+1, Claus Vissing 8, Paul Starke 5+2, Chris Harris 5, Richie Worrall 4, Stuart Robson 3+1, Jack Thomas 0.
