DANISH superstar Niels-Kristian Iversen is coming to Sheffield for Simon Stead’s Farewell Meeting on Sunday March 25 (4pm).
Iversen, a former Grand Prix and World Cup winner, is back in British speedway this year with King’s Lynn and is the latest top name to commit himself to the event which is set to kick off the Owlerton season in style.
Stead said: “The news just gets better and better. When I came off the phone to Niels after he confirmed he’d be here, I literally punched the air with delight.
“He’s always been a great rider to watch, and I’m really happy to be able to add him to the line-up.
“When you look at the fact that we also have the likes of Jason Doyle, Chris Holder, Hans Andersen and Martin Vaculik it’s developing into a World-class field, and I’m sure there will be some great racing.”
Stead has also confirmed places for two more of the Leicester riders he will be team managing in the SGB Premiership this season.
Former British Champion Danny King and exciting Polish newcomer Krystian Pieszczek will both be competing on Stead’s big day.
Stead added: “It will be the first time Krystian has raced at Sheffield, and I’m sure the fans will look forward to seeing him.
“As for Danny, he’s a great lad and we’ve had some good times racing together over the years. It really means a lot to me that he’ll be riding in the meeting.
“It’s all coming together now, we’re almost there with the line-up and I’d like to thank all of the riders who have agreed to take part and celebrate my racing career.”
