BOMBER HARRIS JOINS STEAD FAREWELL

Tuesday February 27, 2018
CHRIS ‘Bomber’ Harris, one of the modern day British legends, has joined the line-up for Simon Stead’s farewell meeting at Owlerton on March 25 (4pm).

Former Coventry hero Harris is lined up for Glasgow this year as well as top flight Rye House and is always a popular attraction at any meeting.

And he’ll be joined in the showpiece event by Swindon’s French ace David Bellego with Stead keen to have links with another of his old clubs.

Said Stead “Bomber has been a loyal servant to British Speedway and I’m sure he’s got some good years left in him, he’s still a tough competitor and he’ll score lots of points for Glasgow in the Championship.”

As for French racer Bellego, Stead says he’s keen to see some Swindon fans on the Owlerton terraces.

“David is a class act, he turned out to be one of the main reasons behind them winning the league last season because he went on an amazing run of form,” he said. “I’m delighted to have him in my meeting.”

The duo join World Champion Jason Doyle, Grand Prix ace Martin Vaculik, Swedish World Cup man Jacob Thorssell, Danish icon Hans Andersen and Tigers stars Josh Bates and Kyle Howarth.

Stead has also revealed BT Sport’s Nigel Pearson, who spent a decade at Owlerton as centre green presenter, will roll back the years by making a return to the microphone for the day.

Tickets are available in advance from the club’s official website.
