TIGERS V REDCAR, PREVIEW

Wednesday October 18, 2017
SHEFFIELD will honour their title heroes on a night of celebration as they host Redcar at Owlerton on Thursday (7.30).

The curtain will be brought down on a historic season which has seen the Window Centre Tigers bring glory back to the city.

Simon Stead’s side clinched the SGB Championship crown at Ipswich at the end of last month but will now bring the trophy back to Owlerton.

They will head up to the bar immediately after their outstanding clash with the Bears is completed to stage their presentation.

Fireworks after heat 15 will provide entertainment as riders prepare to make their way to the Panorama Room to be interviewed about the season and mix with fans.

With the League and Pairs trophies both in attendance, there will be plenty of photograph opportunities for fans.

Co-promoter Peter Mole believes it will be a fitting evening to cap off a wonderful season for his side – but he first wants them to do the business on the track against a makeshift Redcar team.

Said Mole: “We obviously won the league at Ipswich, so the fans haven’t had chance to see the trophy yet along with the team.

“It’s a good chance for fans to have photos both with the riders and the trophies in the panorama room.

“We’ll be announcing our Rider of the Year award as well and getting the thoughts of the riders on the season.

“We hope as many fans as possible can join us, and we’ll hopefully end the season with another big win on the track against Redcar as well!”

Supporters should also note that the annual funfair has taken up the top area of the stadium car park, but additional overflow parking has been arranged and will be available to supporters if required.

SHEFFIELD: Scott Nicholls, Todd Kurtz, Ty Proctor, Josh Bates R/R, Lasse Bjerre, Jan Graversen, Georgie Wood.
REDCAR: Jake Allen, David Wallinger, Charles Wright R/R, Connor Coles, Josh Auty, Ben Morley, Mitchell Davey.
