SHEFFIELD boss Simon Stead hopes to see a more relaxed performance from his side when they head to Premiership outfit Leicester tonight (Monday, 7.30).

Tigers suffered a disappointing 58-32 home defeat last Monday – where they had previously gone unbeaten all year.

It means their promotion dream is all but over, especially as they head into the second leg with three of their top four riders missing.

Tigers have drafted in new Championship Riders’ Champion Nick Morris at No.1 and ex Sheffield man Ty Proctor for the trip to Beaumont Park.

And after admitting last week’s first leg highlighted the gap between the top two divisions, Stead is just hoping his side can give a better account of themselves in the East Midlands.

“It was a tough lesson for us which we hopefully learnt a lot from last week,” Stead said.

“We didn’t do ourselves any favours in the first leg regardless of whether we were up against Premiership opposition or not.

“We were under no illusions that this was always going to be tough; I don’t care what other people say, there was always still a big gap between the top two leagues and last Monday proved that.

“Premiership reserves are solid Championship heat-leaders in the main and that’s where the key differences come yet alone the stronger No.1s they have.

“But being away from home this week, there’s less pressure, less expectation from everyone else so hopefully our makeshift side can go out there, try and enjoy their racing for the night and hopefully walk away with something of a more respectable scoreline.”

Hosts Leicester are also expected to make an official announcement during the interval regarding the future of their club.
