TIGERS TO FINISH AGAINST PREMIER NEWCOMERS

Monday October 29, 2007
SHEFFIELD travel to Scunthorpe on Tuesday evening for their final meeting of the 2007 season, which sees the Tigers up against one of next season’s likely Premier League newcomers.

The Scorpions are hoping to move up from the Conference League in the next few weeks in readiness for next season, and Tuesday’s Challenge fixture against the Owlerton side will give the Scunthorpe supporters a taste of what to expect on a regular basis next year.

The Tigers have named a team at Normanby Road which includes Andre Compton, Ricky Ashworth and Joel Parsons. Paul Cooper, who is a regarded as a track specialist after a brief spell with Scunthorpe, is also another Sheffield regular who’ll make the journey to the Lincolnshire track. Ben Wilson is missing, however, because he has a prior engagement which he cannot get out of at this late stage.

Co-promoter David Hoggart said: "We thought about declining the invite at one stage because of the fact that we had finished our season, but we gave the team the option and they all wanted to do it.

"Scunthorpe are putting on a good show with a firework display and I am sure plenty of our supporters will take this opportunity to see the boys in action for one final time before the long winter sets in. It's a long time between now and next March!"

TIGERS: Ricky Ashworth, Simon Lambert, Andre Compton, Paul Cooper, Joel Parsons, Scott Anderson, Luke Priest.
