PETERBOROUGH 45 TIGERS 48

Sunday June 18, 2017
SHEFFIELD team boss Simon Stead believes they are on a roll after a stunning 48-45 win at Peterborough.

The Window Centre Tigers defied the powerhouse Panthers in a thrilling encounter at the East of England Arena to seal their second straight win.

Star man Josh Grajczonek and the impressive Josh Bates saw the visitors over the line in a tense last-heat decider to seal three SGB Championship points.

It was a strong all-around team performance from Stead’s side, who have responded perfectly to a rallying cry after last weekend’s disappointing defeat at Scunthorpe.

And he believes they have turned a corner as they aim to improve their away form over the rest of the season.

“A win’s a win, so we’re absolutely delighted with that,” Stead said. “It’s exactly what we wanted from the boys, especially after a disappointing result last weekend at Scunthorpe.

“We managed to get back on track with a good win at home on Thursday and we’ve kept our momentum going now with this result

“We started well and managed to keep our noses in front for most of the meeting, then Josh and Josh (Grajczonek and Bates) did the business for us in heat 15.

“It’s a very good result, and if we can continue to build on this then we’ll be in a good position. We’ve said we need a marked improvement on our away form, and if we can keep performing like that as a team then I’m sure we won’t fear going anywhere.”

The Tigers will be back in action when they host the return fixture against the Panthers at Owlerton on Thursday (7.30).
