SHEFFIELD kept their Premier League play-off bid on track with a 56-37 win over Rye House at Owlerton.

The Window Centre Tigers put in a convincing display to claim their biggest win of the season and give their confidence a major boost.

They reeled off three 5-1s in the opening three races and from that point never looked back to claim a comprehensive triumph.

It was a much-improved showing from the Owlerton outfit to claim a potentially vital three points and move them up to fourth in the table.

Team boss Eric Boocock was full of praise for his side after they bounced back to their best following a tricky spell.

Said Boocock: “It was a much better home performance than we’ve had for a while, and after some close run-ins it was good to get a more comfortable win.

“We made a few mistakes and didn’t capitalise on everything we could have done, but it turned out to be an excellent result for us.”

Jason Garrity roared to a superb, four-ride paid maximum whilst skipper Simon Stead was only denied a maximum of his own by bike problems in heat 10.

Flying Frenchman Dimitri Berge top scored with 12+1, claiming three race wins including a classy heat 15 success.

He was joined in the final race by the battling Kyle Howarth, whilst Josh Bates also ended his evening on a high with a heat 10 triumph.

Reserve duo Arthur Sissis and Nathan Greaves also chipped in with vital scores in the lower order to complete an excellent all-around team performance.

The Tigers will be back in action on Sunday (3pm) as they face a tough trip to Glasgow looking to give their play-off push a boost.
