TIGERS LOOK FOR TROPHY GLORY

Wednesday September 26, 2007
SHEFFIELD Tigers are looking to set themselves up for next week's play-off action with victory over Stoke in the Sport Trophy at Owlerton on Thursday (7.45pm).

They need to win by more than eight-points to lift the silverware after restricting the Potters to a 49-41 score in the first leg at Loomer Road earlier this month.

Tigers seem certain to bring in a youngster at reserve to replace the injured James Birkinshaw as their first choice, Simon Lambert, could be lining up for King's Lynn in next week's semi-final.

Co-promoter David Hoggart said: "He was an option and we are keen to bring him to the club, but that is for the future and we need to focus on the next few weeks before looking towards next season.

"We want to do well, win the Sport Trophy and set ourselves up for the Kings Lynn meeting next Thursday which I know everyone is looking forward to.

"We're looking forward to seeing Lee Complin back at Sheffield, the lad has been a great success since making his comeback after so long out of the sport and he's always worth watching around our place!"

Youngsters like Ben Hopwood and Joe Haines are in the frame for the number six position in Sheffield's team.

TIGERS: Ricky Ashworth, Ben Wilson, Andre Compton, Paul Cooper, Joel Parsons, TBC, James Cockle.
STOKE: Lee Complin, Ben Barker, Glenn Cunningham, Rusty Harrison R/R, Claus Vissing, Barrie Evans, Jamie Smith.
