TIGERS 51 REDCAR 41

Thursday June 23, 2016
SHEFFIELD secured their seventh successive home win with a 51-41 victory over Redcar.

It was another test of character for the Window Centre Tigers who finished the meeting with just five riders.

With Jason Garrity already sidelined after aggravating an arm injury, Josh Bates was then forced to withdraw from the meeting in heat five.

The British Under-21 Champion flipped his bike at the start-line and suffered concussion following an awkward landing.

But it was another display of intent from the Owlerton outfit and team manager Eric Boocock was quick to praise his team.

"After getting off to a great start and being ten-points up after four races, we suddenly found ourselves up against it," he said.

"We had to re-group as a team and credit to Redcar because they pushed us hard towards the end.

"But we've battled our way to another three league points and at the end of the day, a win is a win!"

After a tough night against Newcastle last time out, skipper Simon Stead recaptured his fine form to top score for the Tigers.

Flying Frenchman Dimitri Berge produced another classy display as he reeled off four comfortable victories before finding himself stuck at the back in heat 13.

Kyle Howarth enjoyed another impressive performance from the main body of the team while Arthur Sissis and Nathan Greaves contributed a steady, yet vital five points a-piece from reserve.

Josh Bates chipped in with four points from two rides before being forced to withdraw in heat five.

With Bates ruled out of Friday's trip to Redcar, club bosses will need to find a last minute guest replacement to slot in to the side.
