SHEFFIELD saw their winning run brought to an end as they went down 55-37 at Workington on Saturday night.
The Window Centre Tigers travelled to Derwent Park searching for their fifth successive win after enjoying an excellent run of form.
However, they were well beaten on a tough evening as they left Cumbria without any Premier League points.
Joint team boss Marc Bates admitted he was disappointed by the performance of his side - but he has called on them to bounce back ahead of their return fixture against the Comets at Owlerton on Thursday (7.30).
Bates said: "It was a disappointing night at the office, and it was just one of those meetings where nothing went our way.
"Jason (Garrity) rode well, but we missed Josh (Bates) and only got three points from his rides which cost us.
"As a team we struggled and didn't do as well as we can, but we just have to move on and try to bounce back at home on Thursday."
Jason Garrity top scored for the visitors with an excellent display, notching three race wins on his way to 11 points.
However, skipper Simon Stead was the only other Sheffield rider to win a race as he took the chequered flag in heat 13.
Middle order man Kyle Howarth put in a solid showing against his former club, whilst in-form Frenchman Dimitri Berge notched a creditable paid seven.
Yet reserve duo Arthur Sissis and Nathan Greaves largely struggled as the Tigers suffered a disappointing defeat.
