SHEFFIELD made it four wins on the bounce with a 49-36 victory over Berwick - and became joint leaders of the Premier League in the process.

The Window Centre Tigers produced a solid team performance on an action packed night at Owlerton which saw the meeting cut short after 14 races due to the track curfew.

British Under-21 Champion Josh Bates suffered a dislocated shoulder after an awkward tumble in heat three before Berwick's Sebastian Alden was taken to hospital with back pain following a spectacular crash in heat 13.

The Tigers battled back from an early three-point deficit and club captain Simon Stead praised his team-mates.

"Losing Josh early on was obviously far from ideal but we all battled hard and it was another important win for us," said Stead.

"Credit to Berwick though, they pushed us hard early on and we had to fight back.

"We were caught a bit cold early on and the track was a little bit tricky, but the main thing is we got the job done and we're on a good run of form right now."

Flying Frenchman Dimitri Berge stormed to a full maximum, leading three, crucial 5-1's for the Tigers as well as recording the fastest time of the season at Owlerton in heat one.

Kyle Howarth recovered from mechanical gremlins in his first outing to reel off three straight wins while Jason Garrity was in the thick of the action on his return from injury.

Stead registered a solid paid double figures while Arthur Sissis continued to enjoy his return to British Speedway.

Nathan Greaves had a steady night at reserve while the club awaits a full injury update on Josh Bates.

The Tigers are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Workington.
