SHEFFIELD stormed to their third successive win with a hard-fought 49-43 triumph over Scunthorpe at the Eddie Wright Raceway.

The Window Centre Tigers withstood a late Scorpions fightback to claim their second away win of the season against their local rivals.

It was another classy all-around team performance from the high-flying Owlerton outfit as they moved up to second in the Premier League table.

Joint team boss Marc Bates was delighted to see his side come out on top in a tricky encounter against the revamped Scorpions.

Bates said: “It was another fantastic result, and although it was a shame we didn’t quite get all four points, a win’s a win.

“Steady led by example again as captain, Dimitri is riding brilliantly at the moment and Kyle had a great meeting.

“Everyone else played their part, it was another strong team performance so we were delighted with another away win.”

Kyle Howarth top scored for the Tigers as he bagged four impressive race wins from the No.3 spot.

He earned a well-deserved heat 15 appearance, partnering the impressive Simon Stead, who led home a 4-2 to wrap up victory.

Stead was in flying form once again in the No.1 spot, twice joining forces with Dimitri Berge early on as the Frenchman also notched paid double figures.

Josh Bates endured some misfortune with bike problems when leading on the final lap of heat seven, but he nonetheless added a solid paid seven in the engine room of the side as they covered the absence of Jason Garrity through injury.

Aussie ace Arthur Sissis once again won heat two to set them on their way whilst young gun Nathan Greaves fought to a vital 3+2 with an encouraging performance at No.7.

The in-form Tigers will aim to make it four wins on the bounce when they host Berwick at Owlerton on Thursday (7.30).
