SHEFFIELD put in another tremendous team performance to earn a 49-41 away win at Berwick on Saturday night.
Just 48 hours after their resounding triumph over Glasgow at Owlerton, the Window Centre Tigers roared to their first away win of the Premier League campaign.
They got off to a bright start to establish an early lead – and with none of the top five running last places they preserved their advantage to take all four points.
It was another excellent showing from the Tigers as they aim to assert themselves as Premier League title contenders.
Joint team manager Marc Bates says he has been thrilled with the response from his side to bounce back from their two disappointing defeats at Plymouth and Peterborough.
“It was a fantastic result for us, all the team rode well and everyone contributed to a great all-around performance,” said Bates.
“We were disappointed after our defeats against Plymouth and Peterborough, the lads knew they had to turn things around and they have done.
“We’ve taken seven points from our last two Premier League meetings which is great, so we just need to keep this going now.
“We’ve started to show what we are capable of now and we’ll be heading into the meeting against Rye House on Thursday looking to keep this form going.”
Skipper Simon Stead once again led by example to continue his stunning form, whilst Josh Bates bagged double figures and earned a well-deserved heat 15 appearance.
He struck a vital 5-1 alongside the impressive Kyle Howarth in heat seven before Dimitri Berge partnered Stead in heat 11 to give them breathing space.
Berge and Garrity also put in strong showings, whilst Arthur Sissis took the chequered flag in heat two and Nathan Greaves fought hard on another tough night in the No.7 spot.
