A Sheffield Select side put on an impressive second-half display to see off Cradley 51-39 at Owlerton.

It was a close-fought meeting throughout with the scores tied 24-all with eight races gone.

But an injury to Cradley guest and former Tiger Ben Wilson was a huge blow for the visitors and the powerful spearhead of Sissis, Castagna and Bates proved too much for the Midlands outfit.

Tigers team manager Jack Lee said: “The three of our Premier League boys did what was expected of them; it was a good practice for them and they all rode remarkably well.

“It was good to see them getting out there and trying some different lines and I was impressed with all three of them.

“Arthur Sissis really impressed me and I was really happy for him to get his 15-point maximum.

“Our guests for the select side all chipped in with some important points too and I was glad we managed to pull away in the second half of the meeting and get the win.

“I’m an advocate of National League standard racing – I’ve always found it quite exciting and I’m sure the spectators will have gone home very happy with what they saw on track tonight.

“It was a good turn-out; it looked a healthy crowd and I’d say the reduced admission certainly worked.”

Australian ace Arthur Sissis made a series of passes to race his way to his first ever, full maximum in British speedway.

Paco Castagna impressed on his debut, picking up three race wins on his way to double figures.

Josh Bates returned from tonsillitis in impressive style, dropping just one point to an opposition rider.

Guests Danny Ayres and Rob Shuttleworth were good value for their five paid six scores, while Chris Widman and Alex Wilson can be proud of their efforts from reserve.
