TIGERS 57 NEWCASTLE 36

Thursday April 16, 2015
SHEFFIELD stormed to another comprehensive Owlerton victory to seize control of their League Cup group.

The Window Centre Tigers continued their perfect start to the campaign with a dominant display as they raced to a 57-36 triumph over the Diamonds.

Skipper Simon Stead continued his Owlerton dominance as he went unbeaten by an opposing rider for the fourth consecutive home meeting.

However, experienced racer Andre Compton also bagged a well-deserved paid maximum, joining forces with Stead for 5-1s on three occasions to form a deadly spearhead at the top of the team.

And Compton was delighted with a good night at the office as he helped the Tigers to another excellent win.

Said Compton: “It was a good result, everybody performed well and obviously we won by quite a margin in the end so we have to be happy with that.

“It was a good night for myself, I feel like I’m getting stronger every week and I’m pleased with how things are going.

“It’s been a good start to the season all-around, so hopefully that can continue for as long as possible.”

Whilst Stead and Compton were in formidable form, David Bellego also continued his fine start to his Sheffield career to notch double figures.

The Frenchman pulled off two spectacular rides to join Stead at the front for 5-1s in heats 13 and 15 as the Tigers built up a comfortable winning margin.

Ty Proctor bagged two race wins with a strong showing in the middle order, whilst Ashley Birks put in another solid performance.

Down at reserve, Josh Bates was involved in two 5-1s whilst Arthur Sissis claimed a composed win in heat two as he continues to show hugely encouraging signs following his return to the sport.

After another powerful performance to continue their winning run, Jack Lee’s side will face a tough test as they return to Premier League action with a trip to Rye House on Saturday (7pm).
