SUPER STEAD UNBEATEN

Thursday April 02, 2015
SKIPPER Simon Stead struck another impeccable maximum to lead Sheffield to a 47-40 win over Redcar at Owlerton.

The Tigers’ hero continued his sensational form to ensure his side overcame a tough test to make it two League Cup wins out of two.

But they lost Josh Bates early on as he felt the effects of a nasty spill in heat two, whilst Andre Compton also experienced a torrid evening with two exclusions and a fall. He's rated 50/50 for the return on Friday night.

However, with Stead putting in a dominant display and receiving some excellent back-up Jack Lee’s side continued their perfect start to their League Cup campaign.

It was another promising showing from the Tigers, with middle order men Ty Proctor and Ashley Birks both putting in strong performances.

Aussie youngster Arthur Sissis notched a vital 6+3 to help cover the loss of Bates on a hectic evening, whilst David Bellego added a solid six points as the Tigers emerged with a hard-fought victory.

Tigers promoter Damien Bates said: "Josh is hurting so we will see how he is in the morning. We are just pleased to come away with the win and we go to Redcar looking to do the same, it should be a good meeting."

Tigers already have a guest on standby should he be ruled out.

Jack Lee’s side will otherwise be at full strength as they look for their third successive win to continue their strong start to the campaign.
