TWO POINTS FOR TIGERS

Saturday September 13, 2014
GUTSY Sheffield added two points to their Premier League tally as they faced a double header against Workington at Derwent Park on Saturday.

The Window Centre Tigers fell agonisingly short of a consolation point in the opening meeting of the evening as they slipped to a 50-43 defeat.

However, they bounced back to snatch a superb 45-45 draw - their best result of the Premier League campaign on their travels.

5-1's from inspirational skipper Simon Stead and determined guest Kevin Wolbert in heats 13 and 15 saw Joe Screen's side emerge with two well-deserved points against the play-off chasing Comets.

Stead was once again in superb form, suffering just two defeats across the two meetings as he again led the Tigers magnificently.
However, he received some superb support as the Owlerton outfit put in two excellent all-around team displays.

Kevin Wolbert proved a superb guest for Nico Covatti, whilst flying Aussie Taylor Poole continued his exceptional form in the middle order.
With Leigh Lanham, Ben Wilson and Josh Bates all adding solid scores, the battling Tigers came away with two hard-fought points as they look to climb up the Premier League table.

It was a hugely encouraging evening as they look to end a frustrating season with a flourish, and they will be back in action as they host Plymouth at Owlerton on Thursday.
