RICKY DOUBT FOR LOOMER ROAD

Friday August 03, 2007
SHEFFIELD Tigers have an injury doubt over second heat-leader Ricky Ashworth ahead of Saturday's return visit for Stoke.

Ashworth picked up a new knock to the same wrist which had caused his previous injury absence during Thursday's stormy clash with the Potters, and was due to visit hospital on Friday.

If he is ruled out, Tigers have no option under the regulations other than to use the rider replacement facility, sharing his rides out amongst the other members of the team including skipper Andre Compton.

Meanwhile co-promoter David Hoggart says Tigers will be fully concentrated on the racing after tempers flared during the first clash between the clubs.

Stoke's Claus Vissing was fined a total of £400 for his involvement in the incident with Paul Cooper, although the Sheffield man was excluded from the race when the two riders clashed leading to ugly scenes after the re-run.

Hoggart said: "I spoke with Paul immediately after Thursday's meeting and cautioned him against any further incidents either afterwards, or at Stoke.

"Our focus has to be on winning races, winning the meeting and certainly taking the aggregate point even if we can't win on the night.

"To be fair to Paul, his reaction to me was that it was all done and dusted, dealt with and we move on."

STOKE: Rusty Harrison, Ben Barker, Glenn Cunningham, Lee Complin, Claus Vissing, Barrie Evans, Jamie Smith.

TIGERS: Ricky Ashworth (or R/R), Ben Wilson, Andre Compton, James Birkinshaw, Joel Parsons, Paul Cooper, James Cockle.
