COMPLIN IN OWLERTON RETURN

Wednesday August 01, 2007
LEE Complin, who sensationally quit speedway five-years ago, makes an emotional return to Sheffield with new club Stoke on Thursday (7.45pm).

Complin was widely regarded as a potential world champion as a teenager when he won the Premier League treble with Sheffield in 2002 - but he quit that winter for personal reasons.

Now he's made a successful comeback after the Sheffield Window Centre-backed club fixed him up with a loan move to the Potteries.

Sheffield owner Neil Machin said: “I’m sure Lee will be keen to show everyone he still knows the fastest way around Owlerton! We’re pleased to see him back.”

Thursday's meeting doubles-up as the Tim Lucking Memorial night, remembering the former Tigers co-boss who died 11-years ago of heart disease.

Ricky Ashworth makes a welcome return to the Sheffield team after almost three-weeks out with a wrist injury sustained in the Premier League Fours Championship at Peterborough when he was spectacularly thrown over the handlebars!

And with the school holidays in full swing, a timely reminder that Sheffield Speedway and Sheffield Window Centre are again offering free admission to all children aged 12 and under when accomanied by a full paying adult.

SHEFFIELD: Ricky Ashworth, Ben Wilson, Andre Compton, James Birkinshaw, Joel Parsons, Paul Cooper, James Cockle.
STOKE: Rusty Harrison, Ben Barker, Glenn Cunningham, Lee Complin, Claus Vissing, Barrie Evans, Jamie Smith.
