SCUNTHORPE 54 TIGERS 39

Wednesday July 09, 2014
SHEFFIELD went down to a 54-39 defeat at rivals Scunthorpe in their re-arranged clash on Wednesday.

Skipper Simon Stead continued his fine form ahead of the World Cup with three wins in his 15+1 haul and he received good support from Aussie ace Taylor Poole with 9+1.

The Sheffield Window Centre side refused to buckle under pressure from the Scorpions on a fine night of racing at the Eddie Wright Raceway.

But the home side had too much strength and pulled off the win which handed them three league points.

There is no meeting at Owlerton on Thursday - but on Friday Stead and Leigh Lanham will represent the club at the Premier League Pairs Championship (7pm).

SCUNTHORPE 54: Nicolai Klindt 14, Thomas Jorgensen 13+1, Ashley Birks 8+2, Josh Auty 8+2, David Howe 6+2, Ryan Douglas 5+1, Matt Williamson 0.

SHEFFIELD 39: Simon Stead 15+1, Taylor Poole 9, Leigh Lanham 6, Ty Proctor 4, Andre Compton 2+1, Josh Bates 2, Simon Nielsen 1.
