THE SHEFFIELD WINDOW CENTRE TIGERS ended their campaign with a disappointing defeat to Scunthorpe in the Retro Cup on Sunday.
After being defeated at home in the first leg on Thursday the Tigers needed a big performance if they were to deny the Scorpions and win some silverware, but the home side were simply too strong.
The Tigers tracked Richard Lawson and former favourite Hugh Skidmore but they couldn’t halt the Scunthorpe juggernaut, with the Scorpions running out eventual winners by a mammoth 30 points.
Team boss David Hoggart was disappointed to end the season on a low, he said; “It was a bright sunny day with a fair old wind and the track was heavily watered, and we were totally unprepared. I couldn’t even use the tactical substitute because no-one was going well enough to give us an advantage.
“Hugh and Richard both did a fair job for us but overall we should have done better, and disappointing sums up today as well as our season. It’s not a good way to finish the season.”
