SHEFFIELD Speedway bosses say there is every chance Thursday's Premier League clash with new Best Pairs champions Isle of Wight will go ahead at Owlerton.

Club co-promoter David Hoggart was stunned over the weekend when asked by several supporters in Cardiff for the British Grand Prix if the meeting had been cancelled!

He said: "I can understand the doubt in one sense because of the scenes of devastation throughout the area last week, but the track staff have worked wonder and the main part of the track is now clear of water with days to spare.

"There is every chance the meeting will go ahead at Owlerton on Thursday - and no doubt our fans are starved of speedway action, so we're looking forward to it!"

Tigers duo Ricky Ashworth and Andre Compton are both expected to be fit for Wednesday's trip to King's Lynn after crashing out of the Welsh Open at the weekend.
