YOUNGSTERS READY FOR TOP GUN SHOOTOUT

Tuesday June 12, 2007
STARS of the future will take centre stage when Sheffield Speedway host the hugely popular Top Gun individual event on Thursday (7.45pm).

Current Tigers reserve James Cockle will start the event as one of the favourites along with Rye House regular Adam Roynon, a regular in the Rye House team.

The event is staged over 20 races with the top two automatically qualifying for the final and the next four battling it out in a last chance qualifier.

Sheffield co-promoter David Hoggart said: "Neil Machin and I are keen to look towards the future and inevitably there will come a time in the winter when we have to look at signing a youngster at reserve for the 2008 team.

"That's one of the reasons why we stage the Top Gun, to take a look at these lads and chart their progress. James Birkinshaw and Ben Wilson, both current members of our team, are previous winners so that tells a story in itself."

ONCE AGAIN ALL CHILDREN AGED 12 AND UNDER WILL BE ADMITTED FREE OF CHARGE.

LINE-UP: David Speight, Sam Dore, Byron Bekker, Simon Lambert, James Cockle, Ben Hopwood, Adam Roynon, Gary Flint, Scott Richardson, Greg Blair, Joe Haines, Karlis Ezergalis, Mark Thompson, Benji Compton, Adam McKinna, Jamie Pickard.
