SCUNTHORPE 32 SHEFFIELD 22 - ABANDONED

Friday April 13, 2012
ANOTHER day, another victory for the rain as Sheffield's League Cup fixture at Scunthorpe was abandoned after nine heats.

The track had been badly affected by heavy rainfall but went ahead nonetheless, but it soon became clear that the conditions were un-raceable and consistent rain throughout forced the hand of referee Michael Breckon.

The meeting will no be re-arranged for a later date and adds to the Tigers' frustrations after the postponement of Thursday's home duel with Berwick.

Sheffield were 10 points down at the time the meeting was stopped despite starting strongly, but it was clear that a conclusion was never going to be reached with the weather persisting.

Scunthorpe: (Auty 8+1, Birks 7+1, Jorgensen 6+1, Howe 5, Palm Toft 4, Aarnio 1+1, Hart 0)

Sheffield: (Sanchez 6, Hall 4+1, Wells 4+1, Franc 4, Jakobsen 2, Haines 1+1, Skidmore 1)
