SHEFFIELD Speedway are delighted to confirm Nigel Hinchliffe has joined the senior management team.

Nigel has done sterling work offering opportunities to young riders in organised second half racing at Owlerton over the last five years.

Now he has been promoted to join co-promoters Neil Machin and David Hoggart in charge of first team matters with the Sheffield Window Centre side following the winter departure of Eric Boocock.

Club owner Machin said: “Nigel has a wealth of knowledge relating to the rule book from his time as a trainee referee under the Speedway Control Bureau umbrella.

“As a retired police officer he has obvious communication and people skills and in the last five years he has done a fine job as the club’s training instructor and he has done the job with tremendous enthusiasm.

“He is looking forward to his elevated position as part of the senior management team and will bring additional professional attributes with a view to developing team spirit.

“It’s vital for us to work together as a team and Nigel will help forge a strong link between the riders.”
