HOGGART JOINS MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE

Monday November 21, 2011
SHEFFIELD Tigers co-promoter David Hoggart has been elected onto British Speedway’s Management Committee.

Hoggart, a successful West Yorkshire businessman, has won great respect from fellow club bosses for his work on the sport’s major events over the last two seasons.

He replaces Owlerton colleague Neil Machin who has decided to stand down to spend more time on Sheffield business.

Said Hoggart: “This is a massive honour for me and I am naturally thrilled to have this opportunity.

“I will be doing everything within my power to work alongside our chairman, Alex Harkess, and the rest of the committee to help drive the sport forward in the UK.

“I believe there are exciting times ahead and the changes we have made to the Premier League schedule for 2012 make it even more attractive to supporters.”

The race for the Premier League title will now be decided by play-offs with the top 6 going into the end of season shootout.

And Sheffield have once again been awarded the hugely prestigious Premier League Riders’ Championship.

The Sheffield Window Centre-backed side have been handed a bye into the quarter-finals of the Knockout Cup competition.
