IT was Sheffield’s turn to be on the receiving end of a last-heat victory as Plymouth stunned the Tigers with a two-point win at the St. Boniface Arena.
Bottom of the table Plymouth secured a final heat 5-1 against Shane Parker and Josh Auty to hand them a 46-44 victory, meaning Sheffield must now look to pick up points in their final two league meetings if they are to finish second.
Auty , following on from his heroics at Owlerton on Thursday, was in excellent form as he recorded 15 points. Emiliano Sanchez, Simon Lambert and Shane Parker all notched paid-10 but Ashley Birks and Hugh Skidmore could only manage five between them.
Skidmore withdrew after three rides with concussion following a fourth-ride crash, but the home side were not without their own problems as they lost number one Ben Barker to injury after just one ride.
It was the Devils who rallied, and they secured a shock home win to stun the Tigers and send them back to Owlerton with just a point.
