TIGERS 46 WORKINGTON 44

Thursday September 29, 2011
JOSH Auty was the hero of the hour as his last gasp pass on Richard Lawson handed Sheffield a vital victory in their hunt for second place.

The Tigers were eight points down, after initially leading 14-4, with four heats to go but wins late on for Shane Parker, Josh Auty and Emiliano Sanchez drew them level heading in to Heat 15.

That was Auty’s time to shine as he came from 15 metres back to reel in Lawson on the final corner and join Parker for a match-winning 4-2, sending Workington home with just a solitary point.

Tigers’ boss Eric Boocock felt his side was lucky to claim the victory, despite losing Ricky Ashworth early on as he pulled out with an arm injury.

He said: “I think a draw would have been a fair result really but we’re happy with two points.

“I actually felt sorry for Workington to be honest because they didn’t deserve to lose, but that’s the way it goes sometimes.
We shouldn’t have got ourselves in to the situation we did, but Shane and Josh did the business at the end and we’ll take the win.”
