TIGERS V NEWCASTLE - THURSDAY PREVIEW

Wednesday September 14, 2011
SHEFFIELD Tigers continue their push for second spot in the Premier League when they face Newcastle Diamonds at Owlerton on Thursday (7.45).

The Sheffield Window Centre-backed side are in a fine run of form and nearly hit the 70-point barrier against Rye House last week.

And whilst Glasgow seem certain to lift the title, Tigers would have been a good bet to win it under the play-off system used in the other two leagues.

Now the runners-up spot is the best they can hope for and they cannot afford to drop any points on home shale in the remaining weeks of the campaign.

Club owner Neil Machin said: “We were in dominant form against Rye House last week and I expect a tougher meeting on Thursday against Newcastle because both Mark Lemon and Stuart Robson are classy performers in the Premier League.

“This is our last home meeting meeting for a fortnight because of next week’s Premier League Riders’ Championship and we are desperate to win it.”

Once again Sheffield are at full strength and are unchanged from last week.

The Diamonds have seen their season ravaged by injuries but are now back up to strength after a difficult run.

SHEFFIELD: Shane Parker, Hugh Skidmore, Ricky Ashworth, Emiliano Sanchez, Josh Auty, Simon Lambert, Ashley Birks.

NEWCASTLE: Mark Lemon, Derek Sneddon, Joe Haines, Stuart Robson, Claes Nedermark, Kyle Newman, Richie Worrall.
